hi after my previous post about carb adjustments i have found the problem i had (thanks to those who helped) but my motor which is a 4.3lx v6 with 2 bbl carb runs on quite bad now after playing with the carb.

what i want to do is get it better than it was even b4 i had the problem 5sec or so,at the moment is about 15 sec

the plugs i have are the ones listed in ngk book for motor BKR6EFS
but when reading theis website and a mercruiser service page they said you can swap to a ngk plug TR6 which should be colder is this correct? as im sure 6 is the heat range for ngk so therfore would be the same?

im goin to put a lower temp thermostat in as well

also what way should i tune the idle mixture(rich or lean) to help stop the dieseling

thanks once again ben

Re: mercuiser running on help

What is your idle rpm? over 750 rpm you can expect it to run on. Over 850 you will be lucky if it stops at all.

Either will cause the problem, so there is no way for the bulletin to tell you which way to turn the screw for your particular engine.
How much experience do you have with adjusting mixture on carbs? Have you ever done it before?
