Hi, I'm wondering if there's such a thing as a marine block at all, especially for this engine.

I got mixed opinion on that mater here when talking to some person, for example, that a marine block would have more "holes" for the water to cooldown the engine.

Please enlighten me.

No such thing as a marine block for GM. The blocks come off the same line, when being put together they are on the truck line instead of car line. To finish them off they get brass freeze plugs and stainless steel head gaskets. Everything else is the same

No such thing as a marine block . . . very few things are different. The head asket and the core plugs is about it.

The thing about additional 'holes' for cooling has to do with the head gasket and the holes (or blocked passages) that result in parallel flow or sequential flow of the water through the cylinder head. A passenger car typically would have sequential flow and a marine engine (or even a truck engine) would have parallel flow for additional cooling, as they generate more heat due to higher loads.

Thank you guys! I think it's some old myth running around people here about marine engines!
