Mercury 110 hp Fire

After tilting motor to change a damaged prop, the engine caught fire when the motor was restarted.<br />The small fire was quickly extinguished. Is this a direct result from tilting the engine?

Probably a little gas leaked out of the carb(s)<br />while it was tilted.Unplug the gasline and it will reduce that problem some.

I'd be curious about where the spark came from that set it off. Sparkplug wire? <br /><br />c/6<br /><br />Hooty

Hooty,<br /><br />I agree. There is something amiss that created the spark, or plenty of concentrated heat.
