Re: Mercury 115 power trim failure
I have a 1985 115hp Merc. I experienced the same problem, It ended up being the pump motor, the cap where the brushes were burnt up, It happened slowly, I could never figure out what the problem was till it was too late. I lost the hole pumbp motor and have to replace it. It cost almost $450 to fix it. That part [the top cap of the pump motor] is no longer made or available from mercury. I found out after I replaced it[ the whole pump and assembly] that and alternator shop that rebuilds car alternators could have rebuilt that top cap for under $50. So be careful what you do. Fix it now before you sink a alot of money an time in it. Good luck, Tim Arkadelphia AR
