I have a problem getting the motor to start simply by pumping the primer bulb and cranking.
I've had to inject a little gas in each carb and then she starts right up and runs great after that.
I've checked the tank vent and it is clear, the fuel pump pumps gas with no problem, and no gas
comes out of any carb wether the motor is tilted up or not. A friend told me the other day that he
had a Mercury and that they are cold starters and that he had to crank it quite a bit. Does this make
sense? If so how long should I have to crank the motor and should I advance the throttle some?
Thanks for your help.

welcome aboard :)
my 1150 needs to crank a bit when she hasn't been
used for a while too. are you using the fast idle
control? have also heard this is normal for these
old girls.
good luck,
M.Y.

warnersworld

Perform a search "1150 Merc" on this forum. This subject has been discussed a lot here. You should also find a "solution" that I rigged on my 115.

Good luck,

Gold Bear ;)
