we recently purchased a '73 Glastron with a Mercury 115hp outboard on it. We had taken it out 3 times and two tanks of gas and had absolutely no problems. We took it out last Saturday and had problems. A couple of times it just quit, we got it restarted and it ran fine. It quit on us again and when we finally got it restarted it would only go about 10 miles an hour. The guy we bought it from said to use plain gas, not an oil mixture. But we can't find where to put oil in the engine. Are we in trouble, should we have been mixing??? Help

Yep-- should have been 50-1 mixture fuel to oil, 16 oz (pint) to 6 gal gas. You probably need to check compression, if good you might try double mixing 25-1, quart of oil to 6 gal gas. besure and use twc-3 2 cycle oil.

Re: mercury 115hp question

What year is the motor? If it's 1986 or later you may have an oil injection system... Look for an oil tank somewhere inside the boat conneceted to the fuel line.. If it's a 1989 or later the oil tank is mounted on the side of the power head under the engine cover...If it is any older than 1986 and,or does not have oil injection and you have not been mixing fuel and oil at 50:1 ratio you have most likely done some SERIOUS DAMAGE.... :(
