hi, i've got a 1999 125 outboard. it sat for about 10 months. it started up fine and sounds good but i could tell the bottom 2 cilinders were not firing. i pulled the carbs off and didn't fine anything wrong. there were nice and clean. but i can tell it only running on two cilinders becase i also pulled the plug wires on the two bottom off the bottom two plugs and there was no change. i'm getting spark to them. but the spark plugs come out clean. i'm lost as what could be the problem. i also pumped the ball when the carbs where apart and gas came out. also the fuel bowls are full of gas. when i spray carb cleaner into the two dead cilinders you can hear them fire. so for some reason i'm not getting fuel to them. plz help. thanks for yor time.

Re: mercury 125 help plz

Welcome to iboats.

Believe it or not, they're not supposed to work at low throttle. They kick in at about 1/4 throttle. They did that to smooth the idle. Unfortunately it has led to vast confusion.

The idle mixture is set so lean that the cylinder will not fire, yet enough gas passes to lubricate the internals. Weird feature that has led to a ton of customer dissatisfaction. :(
