just bought a boat 2001 trophy 1802/125hp saltwater mercury outboard about 40days ago, been out 6-7 times now and no issues, went out yesterday and the trim stopped moving the motor. The trim motor is making noise (i think its working) but the motor don't move, neither up nor down. I had to unscrew the relief screw to get it out of the water. I didn't hit or do anything that would cause it to stop moving the motor. I have checked fluid and its full, there are no visible leaks. this occurs with both trim controls (on throttle and on engine).
I have checked the forums and there is no mention of a problem like this. I was hoping someone could chime in and make sure I am not missing something stupid.
Otherwise its going back to Anchor Marine in buffalo, ny and they best fix it under the 30days warranty they gave me.
Also, out of curiousity, can the trim motor and whatever else is needed for a rebuild be taken off without taking the whole engine off the boat?
