Hi to all i have a 1989 mercury the serial is 9542664. She stars fine and ticks over ok but maybe a little too smokey, when i turn the throttle and put it into gear she dies, i notice also that when i open the throttle via the engine stightly she will pick up but then the engine will pop and a load of smoke will come out from a port in the uper leg but she will carry on running. i'm guessing its the timming but if anyone can shed some light please do. its new fuel and measured quicksilver oil mix 50/1.
