when the boat is first put in gear it seems to slip out but when the boat is running for a while it doesnt happen anymore. does anyone have or have had this problem. also wondering if anyone has a similar boat and knows if 60 is a good top speed for this boat. it has a hydrolic jack plate and a quicksilver 22p s.s. prop.....thx in advance

Anytime a gear slips out is not a good thing. You might want to adjust the cable a little more positive towards forward gear.

Also..60 mph is fast enough on the water.

TMD

savannah,

I think TMD is right that you should check the shift cable and shift linkage to the shaft. Make sure you are getting the proper travel in both forward and reverse....

If that isn't the cause I hope it isn't that aftermarket lower unit!!!!! Can you get ear muffs that will work with that front water pick up... If not you can use a big tank of sime kind and run it at low RPM's to see if your adjustments will work...
