I have a '77 Black Max 1750 that needs a rebuild. Instead of paying the outrageous charges for boring and sleeving 3 cylinders I have located a newer model 2.0 liter block and heads. The seller, a 30 year mechanic, tells me that everything off my motor will work with this block, but it will require an adapter plate, which comes with the deal, because the exhaust ports are different. He also has used pistons to match the bores. He will hand pick a block and pistons so I won't have to do anything but hone and re-ring it. He tells me that my crank and rods will work fine, also. My question is, is he being truthful with me? <br />My motor runs, but has 3 bad pistons and cylinders where something appears to have been sucked into it at one time. Otherwise, it sounds good and tight, with no knocking sounds, so my crank and rods should be ok. I can buy the block package, with carbon fiber reeds and full gasket set, cheaper than I can get the bores sleeved on this block.
