I have a 1976 Mercury 1750 that cranked and ran in a test, I have moved it to another boat and have moved the wiring harness with the motor, but had to change starting switch. I have the motor spining over, I have the choke working, I have power to the Orange Wire on the power pack but I cannot get any spark. I have the yellow wire to the starter selenoid. I have checked the Clemer Manual but it really is little help. Any ideas?

Make sure the black/yellow wire is NOT grounded. That's the 'kill' wire for the ignition system.

Re: Mercury 175 Wiring Problem -No Fire

Could it be the White/Purple wire, I don't have a black/yellow wire. According to the wiring diagram, the purple/white goes from the switch to the power pack. I think I have it grounded, and if it is the "kill" wire for the stator, then that makes sense why it won't run the way I have it., Gonna try switching the wire to the IGN side of the Switch and see if it will run. I really appreciate your help,
