Hi,
I'm trying to figure out shipping options on a 1984 Mercury 18 outboard I just bought. Does anybody have information on the weight of this motor? I'm guessing 120-125 pounds, but I hope it's less.
Thanks,
Lewis

I guess there are not a lot of those 18s out there. If anybody has the weight of a mid-1980s to late-1980s 20HP Mercury, that would help me narrow it down.
Thanks,
Lewis

OK, can anybody give me even an educated guess on the weight? I know there are folks on this list that know everything there is to know about outboards. I'm trying to figure out whether I can have this motor shipped by to me by Fedex ground; their weight limit is 150 pounds, and I'm sure I will be getting close once the weight of the packaging is figured in.
Thanks,
Lewis

Thanks, Bear! That gives me a few data points to work with. Another one is the service manual for my 1964 28HP Evinrude. That motor weighs 127 pounds, so I think I'm safe in estimating the '84 18HP as something less than 125 pounds.
Lewis
