hello
i have a 1989 merc 80 horse oil injected. serial # 0B310239. i have a crack in one of the blades of the prop. i dont feel any vibration when moving, but i was told to replace it just to be sure. the crack is about 3/4 inch long and slightly seperated apart.
anyway i am looking at new props and am not sure which one i need.
here is the numbers off my prop
48 77344 A40L 17P

R10 92 (i think it is a one beside the R, could be an L, not sure)

can anyone help with which one i need and where to order?
thanks in advance for your help

Agreed you NEED to change that prop. At several thousand RPM, that piece of metal could break off and become a projectile.

From the numbers you gave (48 77344 A40L 17P) it is a 13 1/4" diameter prop with a pitch of 17" (17P). I think there are 15 splines on the hub. You need to find a prop with same #splines suited for a Merc engine. Count the number of spines on the prop shaft to be sure.

As to the diameter and pitch requirements, there is lots of info on the PROP QUESTIONS forum. If you are happy with the performance I would just find an identical replacement.

Check here on i-boats or any of the on-line trading posts for new and used props for sale.

i think i may also need to buy a hub kit as well. i found a prop from dansdiscountprops.com. it is a quicksilver prop part # QA2036X. it says you must buy the flo torq hub kit as well. are these hard to install??
