The serial on this Mercury 9.9 is: OD183214 and I need to know the year.
The only specifics I can find is that it has a WMC carb, but I'm not sure which one.

I did a compression test and got 101 psi on one cyclinder and 105 psi on the other after a few cranks. Isn't this pretty good for a 2 stroke?

Anyway, I'm new here and I now own my Dad's 9.9 after he passed away. I am just getting around to trying to fix it up so it will run.

Thanks for any info you can provide.

Great compression when they are that close together. Within 4 lbs WOW. Look up your motor on Maxrules.com read the FAQ here on iboats to learn to waken a sleeping outboard and read up on the de-carb proceedures.

That 9.9 is a great motor.

My serial doesn't match the cross reference charts on several websites I have looked at including the one you suggested. I have heard that it is a 1990, 1991, and 1993. A local shop said it was a 1990 and an online express parts store said it was a 1993 with a model number of : 1010201ND. It would be nice to know which is right.

Really would not make much difference...... there were not any major changes. Service and maintenance is the same.
