Mercury 3000 gen 1 to 4000 gen 2?

Does anyone know if it is possible to change out a Mercury 3000 Gen 1 Throttle to a Mercury 4000 Gen 2? I know cables would have to be switched to gen 2 as well but not sure what else is involved or if you can make gen 2 cables mate.

Also if it helps, 1999 Rinker 232 with 7.4L linked to B3
