Mercury 4-Stroke (4HP) Shift Arm

This is probably a long shot, but has anyone ever replaced a Shift Arm on a Mercury outboard (4-Stroke, 4HP)? The plastic part of the arm has been broken and fallen off from the rest of the shaft.

I don't want to pull the motor only to find that I can't get to end of the shaft to disconnect the arm from the rod.

Has anyone replaced one before?
