Mercury 40 hp ser.# 4038111 What year ?

Hi all , I`ve looked in the Stickie links and cannot id what year my engine is ? its a Electric start long shaft 40 hp Merc. ser. # 4038111 and is a Canadian engine , it needs a stator , it has a starter as well as a pull start , can I just get a cheaper ignition only stator and use the pull start ? thanks Bill

Your engine was built in 1974 and is a model 402

So is it possable to just put in the manual start stator and exclude the electric starter and battery ? I just need this one to run without the fringe benefits ?? Bill
