serial = 9459899.

My outboard is having ignition problems. I have checked the starter and seems to be working fine. I assume the square black bit above the starter is the soliniod. I also checked that and that also seemed to be fine. I am now at a loss as i don't have a manual. I can pull a car engine apart but as i am finding, out a boat can be very diff. Is there a coil and where is it located.

We need something more than "ignition problems". Neither the starter nor the solenoid have anything to do with the ignition.

If you have a no-start problem, go to the Engine FAQs forum and do "Outboard won't start". Let us know what you find, and good luck.
