My fishing friend is in the hospital and ask me to do some work on his engine on his Lund. 2001 Mercury ELPTO 90hp 4 stroke, used only in freshwater. Looking around under the cowl I didn't see a fuel filter. After viewing some videos, I'm seeing that there's supposed to be one located under the dip stick, and another under whatever it is on the front of the engine. I'm wondering why there isn't a fuel filter, or am I missing them? He's had this boat for about 2 years, I'm thinking it's the first time he or me has been under the cowl. TIA

Normally a white in line small one under the cowl…and most packages done right, would have a water separating filter inside the boat.
