We were out this weekend and the boat was running fine but it had a warning signal going off for about 10 minutes after starting. After it stopped sounding off we found a cove to stop in and the boat died when I turned around to face the other way. After 15 minutes I realized the boat was drifting and tried to restart the boat and it turns over fine but will not start. You can hear it want to start but it just doesn't. It's a 2005 5.0 in a Crownline 240ex with a Bravo 3 outdrive. What can I try? I did hit the fuel line valve (looks like a bike tire valve) and straight gas came out as the guy who towed us back suggested it may be vapor locked but it didn't start after that either. I did try it again the next day and it almost started the first time I turned the key but then didn't do anything after that. Thanks

I pulled the fuel filter today and it seems fine. I used some starter fluid and it didn't start until I took it out of gear and pushed the throttle forward a bit. When I pull the throttle back into neutral, it dies. I did this about 3 times with the same result. I can rev it up just fine but going back to neutral it dies and won't start. What gives?

It's your AIC valve, I bet it was two beeps/min?

Quicksilver# 862998 also order the gasket as it will fall apart. Very easy to change two allen bolts and the electrical plug.

If it is the IAC you can find the auto equivalent at a much cheaper price. This is a part that you can safely use the auto equivalent without any worries as they are the same part.

Thank you both for answering. How would I find the auto equivalent? What would I look under? The Quicksilver is $100.

I changed the IAC valve and it started right up. Thank you so much for your help.
I did use an auto part for it. The local marina wanted $160(boat type), online was $100 as mentioned but O'Reilly Auto Parts was only $60 and in stock!!! He also said I could bring it back if it didn't work even though they don't normally allow returns on electrical parts.
I believe I saved at least $300 by doing this repair myself with the help of you all and not having the marina come out to my boat. And it only took 10 minutes.
Thank you again. :)
