I have recently acquired a Mercury 50 hp (per the decal on the cowling) 3 cylinder 2 stroke outboard.
Previous owner says it was a 1997 that has been rebuilt.
Another cowling decal says Smartcraft Integrated MarineTechnology.
Motor model comes out to be a ELPTO. See attached images to see what it looks like.
The serial number located on the swivel bracket is 06097518.
Mercury Parts catalog for this serial number says this is a 1980 ELPT hp.
Clearly not my engine since this motor has seperate tank for oil called Auto-Blend, mine has oil reservoir attached to engine.
Doing parts lookup by serial number on a few other websites clearly references an older motor than mine.
Doing a parts lookup for 1997 Merc 50 ELPTO, the parts list looks more like it, shows an attached oil reservoir, cowling looks correct.
But how can I be sure what model/year I really have? Don't want to order parts and a manual for the 1997 and find out they are wrong.
Any help on how I can verify exactly what model I have would be appreciated.
Thanks
