Hi All,

First post to the group, relatively new owner :)

I have a Mercury 50 Outboard that refuses to start, the engine cranks over nicely, but I don't get a spark at the plugs. It's a Twin Carb, 3 Cylinder engine, I know I am getting fuel OK, can smell it :)

Thought I may have flooded the engine, but took plugs out, turned over engine to expell fuel, refitted plugs, but still no luck.

I did read on the board someone mentioning that the kill switch may be at ground all the time, I'm gonna check that one out tomorrow.

Is there a good/bad way to test if the kill switch is malfunctioning? Can it be bypassed for a test?

Many thanks for your help. Perhaps I might get to go play on the water tomorrow :)

Best Regards
Chris
