mercury 500 50hp year and problem

s/n: 2000069<br /><br />Can somebody tell me what year is this motor?<br />And can somebody give me few hints to make it run smoother? <br />It's lacking power. It's mounted on 16 foot aluminum boat and max speed I can pull out of it is 10mph. My tech is broken so I cant see the rpm range that the motor is pushing. But for sure it is not pushing the full thortle.Also it works unevenly.<br /><br />Thanks anyway.

10MPH thats not right. Did you do a compression test on the motor? Seems like a late 60's motor

It does not look faster <br />and my speedometer is showing arond 10 mph<br /><br />And the boat is not heavy and it still doesn't wanna go.
