MERCURY 50HP RED BAND

IVE GOT A MERCURY RED BAND 50HP MOTOR RUNS FINE MY PROBLEMS IS THE CONTROL BOX OR THROTTLE BOX IS WORN OUT. HAD A COUPLE OF MECHINICS LOOK AT AND THE TELL ME THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO ABOUT IT. THEY TELL ME THERE IS NOTHING OUT THERE TO REPALCE THIS AND MY MOTOR IS NO GOOD. JUST LOOKING FOR SOME MORE ADVICE, THANKS BILC

what??? buy a used control box and get back on the<br />water if she runs good.

Do this: go to www.ebay.com, then ebay motors, then Parts/Accessories, then boats/watercraft. There's always some Merc control boxes listed there, most for less than $50 and in good shape.

Yes! Tim MC is right on. Never heard of such a thing,throwing out the baby with the bathwater .<br />I'd get two strings and bailin wire before i threw out a werkin 50HP Merc over a Mercontrol.<br />Greedy wrench alert!! Run!!<br /> <br />Try Ebay, or any local marinas other than the one that guy werks at that's saying to throw out your entire outboard because your controler is bad <br /> Dangol marina sharks are everywhere!

BILC,<br /><br />Follow tim and 12footers advice, I bought a used control box with harness and cables for 50. Sometimes its just the control box and other times its everything. <br /><br />12FOOTER like your shark.
