Mercury 50hp thunderbolt LU Stuck

SN 3014694 1970 (I think).When I attempted to replace water pump the gear change rod seem to be stuck RUSTED.The rod come pulling out of the foot instead of coming apart at the break.I need to know if there is any thing I can do? Help<br /> Keith

Welcome to iboats.com.<br />Did you remove the l/u yet? If not, do so, and when you got to buy the impeller, also buy a l/u seal kit. You'll need to pull the shift shaft anyhow, to replace it's seal, so now would be a great time to do that.<br />No harm done. Just dont teist or bend it, and you can put it right back in there, same way as you took it out.
