Jim,<br /><br />If your engine has the older style rectifier on it, I would start by checking that. On the starboard side of the engine, in among the electrics, you'll see a diamond shaped boxed, about 1 1/2" long, with a couple of yellow wires on it and a red wire and a grey wire. That's the rectifier. The grey wire is to the tacho. If you don't have a multimeter, take the rectifier off and have an auto electrician check it out.<br /><br />If it is that the part number is -816770 and it'll cost you a whole $35.24 from
