mercury 650 65hp

hello everyone, i have a 1970? mercury 650 65hp outboard, im not using it and thinking about selling or trading it off, but not sure what its worth, has about 40 hours on a rebuild but been sitting for a couple of years but is not locked up<br />any ideas what its worth?

Goes for about $250 on Ebay, have seen them advertized for $500 in the paper. Maybe worth more in your area.

thanks for the info, not sure if living in the desert, a 100 miles from water would make it more valuable or not? probably not? but im not looking to make a profit either

Post it in the local Thrifty Nickel for no less than $500. Someone should snap it up, especially if they can hear it start and run. It should bring at least $500, since there ain't that much water around Hobbs, eh? Ebay is a good way to sell after you exhaust free local sources. Their fees are going up, and shipping a motor that big can be a major BIT**, unless your buyer is willing to spend almost what they pay for the motor. You can still find good buyers there most times, though. If I needed another Merc, I'd drive over from Lubbrock and have a look. Good luck.

well i hope selling or trading a boat motor in hobbs is easier than trying to find one to buy,<br />i been looking for one for my john boat for a year now with no luck, i figured 5 hp outboards would be fairly common around here, might have better luck just trying to find someone to trade me straight across

There's a lot of 5 to 7.5 hp outboards on ebay all the time, any make/model or year you please. Most can be had for less than $200...some for much less, and shipping ain't that expensive through UPS or FedEx.
