Almost ready to finish putting back together my 1970 Mercury 650 Kiekhaefer, but I failed to take enough photos when I took it apart and can't quite suss out how the spring tension for the choke rod is supposed to go back on the top carburetor. Could use some help, a photo or description.

The spring holds the choke plates open. So orient the spring to keep the plates open.

I need more specifics. Does this look right? The flanged ring/spacer -- which way should the flange face? Toward the carburetor or outward toward the spring? In the photos, it's facing toward the carburetor, but that makes for less smooth up and down motion of the rod.

Disregard -- I think I've got it figured out. See attached photo.
