Mercury 6HP vs. Yamaha 8HP

I need some education about outboards. I am looking at buying a new motor for my 14ft. flat bottom aluminum boat. Which motor is stronger the Mercury 6HP with 210cc or the Yamaha 8HP with 165cc? The RPM range on the Yamaha is slightly higher. How can the HP be higher but the engine be smaller? I would appreciate the help.<br /><br />Chad.

Merc could be a detuned larger motor. Could be a 2 stroke compared to 4 stroke thing?

Both motors are 2 strokes. The Yamaha is a 2002 model the Mercury a 2001.
