I've got a '71 65 hp Mercury 4 cylinder that I'm looking to add tilt and trim to. The new aftermarket units are too pricey for me. Busboy was kind enough to tell me that the 4 cylinder ('71 and older) 65 hp motors use a 2 ram t&t, with a single solenoid for the hydraulic pump mounted externally. Apparently, sometime later Merc went to a 3 ram system with 2 solenoids mounted under the engine cowl. Anybody know the specifics on which t&t (motor year and hp/cylinders)are compatible with my motor?

Many thanks.

Hi Val,
Any external Mercury Trim will work on your motor
just great. I don't have any extras at this time, but Twin Cities outboard in Shopkee may have one or northern Outboard.
BTW most have two sol.

I had a 650 4 cyl & fitted a trim & tilt from an 850 the only problem I had was I didnt get the bolts for the rams with them it was a pain finding the correct ones as they are UNF HT stainless get them when you get the t&t.Good luck :)

Thanks for the info guys. I'll keep my eyes peeled for a external Mercury t&t and will be sure to ensure it comes with the ram bolts. I appreciate the help!
