Mercury 850 control box handles?

Hello, I just bought an old boat and don't know what the controls are for. I haven't driven a power boat with controls for awhile. I figure the large handle is for the gears and throttle. It has a neutral marked on the box when upright. But there is another handle that is against the starboard side of the boat on the inside of the control box. Can someone tell me what this is for? Also, if there is a site that shows me how the tilt trim and such work that would really help. thanks!

The smaller lever is choke while you're warming up.

Thanks! So how does it work? It seems to move in 180 degrees from front to back. Thanks! Where do I put it for what effect?
