Hello all! I am installing a timing belt and new stator on a 1974 Mercury 850. I would love some advice/pointers from anyone who may have done this before. I don’t see any arrows on the distributor pulley to align with the flywheel dots. All I see is a roll pin sticking out that appeared to be the alignment when I pulled it apart. Thanks!

Get a good Service Manual, preferably one by Mercury, for your outboard

A 5/16" socket to take the wee plate off the top of the pulley.-----Might find the arrow then.

Taking the top of the pulley off revealed the arrow as well as made it very easy to get the belt on after flywheel was installed for anyone doing this job.
