mercury 9.8 h.p.

I'm loking to buy a mercury 9.8 h.p. The seller told me that is a 1986 motor with thunder bolt ignition. Serial number is 7036297 is it possible to be a 1986? Is there any problem i should know with that kind of motor and year before buying? Can i get parts easilly and affordable? What is the lenght of a short shaft? I have an inflattable 10 feet Quicksilver boat with 16 in. back, do I need short or long shaft.

It's a Proven Runner........ <br />Parts are Readily Available.........<br /><br />15"s is a Short shaft......(Yes, What You Need)<br />20"s is the Mid-sized....<br />25" is a Long shaft......
