Hi all, i bought a 2005 triton with a 90 hp 2-stroke mercury on it. i am starting to see a problem when the motor is cold, it acts really cold natured for some reason. When i get out of the no wake zone, i have to really ease into the throttle because if i just nail it, the motor stumbles pretty bad.....I put new gas in it, higher octane the other day and i always add fuel stabilizer so it doesn't gunk up....I have not changed the plugs though, don't know if that would help or not......Any suggestions? Thanks for any advice....BJ

If the motor is at normal operating temp. (140*), than that is a symptom of dirty carbs or incorrect idle adjustment. You can try to richen the carbs 1.8 turn CCW, and see if that helps. If not, a carb cleaning and rebuild is in order.

If the motor doesn't warm up, check/replace the thermostat

this motor is a 2005 model. Does it have carburator or is it fuel injected? I'm not sure, i just popped the plugs out and plan to replace 'em first thing tomorrow. But, i didn't look to see if it's injected or not........

I too have a triton, sp175 with a 90 merc 2005. I had a similar problem. I changed the fuel filter, and rebuilt the fuel pump with parts located here on iboats. If you jump down on mine, it will try to throw you out the boat... I use seafoam in my gas. If you rebuild fuel pump, it's cheap and fuel filter is cheap, use OEM for fuel pump rebuild.... Hope this works for you.
