I have a 2002 Mercury 90 elpto. I just tuned it up and seems to be doing great and now I find a leak coming from the motor of so I think. It is not motor oil because that is blue, this fluid seems clear or a yellowish tint. It might be hydraulic oil. It is running from the bottom part of the motor down the shaft. It is only on one side of the shaft. I have opened it up and can't seem to locate the origin of this leak. I don't know if something is inside the cowl that uses hydraulic fluid. Do these motors use steering fluid? I have bought some hydraulic fluid so I can top off the tilt and trim this evening. Has anyone have this happened! Thank you.

Power trim uses a light hyd, often many use ATF.

Until you clean everything and keep a close eye I would suspect the seal on the lift cyl, possibly a hose fitting. No way to know until you clean and tilt it up/down a couple times looking before and after each movement for oil.
