Hello iboats! My boat is aaaalllllmoat finished! I have an old tower of power (79 mercury 115), that I would like to install at least a tachometer, and possibly a temp gauge on as well.
I have acquired some an old guage cluster from a boat with an unknown sized, mercruiser in it. So can I use these guages from the inboard on my outboard motor? And should I run a temp guage on my old merc?

Chances are the tach from the 4 stroke mercruiser will not work with the 2 stroke mercury.

Nor will oil pressure since your 2 stroke doesn't have any. Gas gauge will work. Temperature probably will work but likely meaningless since the gauge would not get off the low end of the scale.

I wasn't planning on using the whole cluster. Defineatly not the oil pressure gauge haha. I've already taken the tach and temp gauge out. What do you mean the temp gauge won't get off the lower end of the scale? Think I'll have too order a tach at least then. Should I bother putting a temp gauge in?

Outbosrd rund cooler than an I/o and that gauge probably starts at 100 degrees. Therefore the gauge wull barely get off the low end of the scale.
