Re: Mercury Auto blend system

The Autoblend system was never a trustworthy system and has no alarm to let you know if it has quiting pumping oil, only if its low of oil. These has caused many engines to fail when they where available and there is no parts offered for them to fix or repair them. I cannot have faith in a part that has caused thousands of dollars in repairs, if you want to try its it your engine....

OK, i take your advice on board, and having listenend to your point of view and spoken with several others, i will not be fitting it as i do not want to encourage big bills for the sake of 30 seconds measuring oil and pouring it into a fuel tank.

Know any one who wants to buy a auto blend system ???????? :)

I've had an AutoBlend system on my Mariner for 21 years now and it's never failed me yet. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

The 89 35hp Merc on My last fishing boat came with an Auto blend system. It was wrapped up in a black garbage bag in the front storage locker. Looked like new so I have no idea when it was pulled off. The gas tank had "50 - 1" in magic marker by the cap. It went with the boat when I traded.

Re: Mercury Auto blend system

there was a reason why when I worked for a mercury dealer for many years we called it auto-blow.
most failed, a few would alarm you that someting was wrong, most your first clue was the rod hanging out of the block.

I'm freaking out that I may have the AutoBlend POS on my 1988 100 4 cylinder Merc. Can anyone tell me for sure. Just had it to the mechanic to check for good operation and he tells me I only have a low oil alarm not a no oil alarm and there is no alarm w key turn on.

It's a separate tank attached somewhere near the motor. Should be pretty easy to spot. Says AutoBlend on it.

Have a tank but does not say autoblend, looks like any other oil injection tank. Wow, I guess I'll be buying the block off plate ASAP. I dont know what system this is but with no key alarm like most others here say they have it seems like disaster waiting to happen!

The 100 hp comes with a perfect fine oil system. Why are you panicking? It 's true that the system does not have a hall effect sensor but the drive part is very reliable. It's not like the plastic kind.

Whew, thanks dave, I was panicking because all I seem to read are horror stories about some of these systems and you are the first to tell me mine is good. Thanks for the good news!!
