Hello, first post here and hoping someone can shed some light on possible options to the Big Tiller Kits for my 98' 75hp Opti tiller. I'm into Handlining and trolling for walleye on the Great Lakes and seeing guys with the capabilities on their E Tecs with slowing their boats down with the +/- rocker switch got me to look into the Big Tiller kits but once I called around for pricing ouch I was only slightly discouraging. Then if you want to add power steering, sit me down because I might as well consider a new outboard. Are these kits something that ever come up for sale Used or is there a better option out there. Thanks in advance. Ernie

. Check with dealers that sell a lot of pontoon boats, that's where my brother found one for his 50hp 2str 3cyl Merc. The tillers came with the motors, and the dealer had them in a pile in the corner of his shop.

Hey great advice Fishin. The prices I'm seeing up here for tiller kit only was $1800 and with power steering (which I don't need ) was $4500 plus about 8hrs to install @ $85/hr. Think they said to install Tiller kit only was like 4hrs. I'll make some calls. Thanks again.

I like the big tillers, 200 to 250 horse anyway,...

However, For the kind of money you were quoted I think I'd look into a 9.9 four stroke to handle the trolling applications,...

Save the run time on the bigger motor and use less fuel,....

Yep, and really doubt there are any Big Tiller kits laying around as a take off.

Most dealers don't even stock them.
