Hello, I have a 1991, 135 v6 Merc. I got water in my fuel and now I cannot get my engine to run. I have changed my plugs, fuel filter, fuel. I can get the engine to start if I spray starting fluid in the carbs, but not otherwise. The fuel pump is working because fuel makes it all the way to the carbs I disconnected a line at the bottom carb to check this. I was thinking maybe the needles are clogged or something. Is there anyway I can blow compressed air through the fuel line to try to clean out the carbs or anything?
Thanks.

Fuel is most likely there because you pumped the primer bulb. At any rate sounds like you carbs need a cleaning. Get some gasket kits. Disassemble carbs and clean all parts with carb cleaner. Then dry and blow out all orfices with compressed air and reassemble with the new gaskets.

BTW: Starting fluid is not a good way to start any engine, but especially a two-stroke. It washes the lubrication off of surfaces that really need lubrication. Try to limit the amount of times you start the motor this way.

When you hit the enricher valve, does it dump fuel properly?

Tell me more about this enricher valve where is it and how can i see if the fuel is dumping in I can't see or hear any fuel being sprayed into the carbs when I open and close the throttle. Can anyone tell me which screws are the jets, can I take them out and clean them without taking the carbs of the motor?

You really should get a manual if you are going to work on the carbs. It will tell you how to test the enrichner, how to rebuild the carbs, and how to do a linc and sync when you are done. It will have paid for itself when you are done.

When you push the key in you should hear a "click" from the motor, this is the enricher valve opening to let fuel flow.

Is it hard to rebuild the carbs and fuel pump. I looked at a kit and it only looked like about 7 gaskets to replace. Is it like doing a car carb? I had someone look at the boat and he said that it would be $300-$400 to rebuild the carbs and the fuel pump. It would cost me $60 just to get the kits and the manual. I think his price is pretty resonable.
