Hey guys I got a quick question for you. I just bought an 08 Tahoe Q4 w/ the 4.3L and I live in Mississippi. I was wondering if you guys use the Quickare Fuel Treatment and Quickleen Engine & Fuel System Cleaner? If so where do you buy it at and if not what do you use in your mercruiser?

Thanks for the help...

David, Mercruisers are marinized auto engines. They do not carbon up like 2 cycle outboard motors. As Bondo says, "ya don't need any of that junk". if you plan to run in the salt water, hose off the block regularly to get rid of the salt.

I used to run some small amount of 2 cycle oil in the fuel of my MerCruiser 4.3LX to keep the rust down in the cast iron intake manifold. I kept the boat in the salt water, however, and exterior rust was an issue, so I thought it might help interior rust.

Ethanol fuel is fully compatible with a engine/boat built in '08. Absolutely no reason not to use it (it's probably whats in the tank right now).

I don't put fuel treatment in my truck very often, but keep it (Sea Foam) in my OB. Probably because I use my OB once a quarter and my P/U a few times a week (retired...don't have to go to work any more). Haven't had any fuel related problems with either.

If you store the boat for the winter, put some Stabil in it, otherwise, you really don't need anything else. The ethanol in the gas is a solvent and will dissolve any buildup in the fuel system. As long as the fuel is fresh, you will be just fine. Enjoy the new to you boat.
