Hello. 1982 Mercury 115hp Tower of Power with serial number 6093314. Has an outboard jet on it. Just recently pulled the Jet off and put on new impeller on, cleaned up gates, and installed a new water pump kit. Now, I'm a little lost on boating machanical part names, but I desperatly need a new lower end bearing....the bearing that needs to be greased evertime the jet is used on the water...its below the water pump, and above the Outboard impeller. Holds the drive shaft in place to the Outboard jet housing while turning the Impeller. Need to find the Complete kit part number or just the bearing part number. Even the Mercury Dealer I called is having a difficult time finding what I need. Not sure why??? The part number that is on the original bearing is (Federal 5305H). I would prefer the entire kit, but just bearing will do. The Mercury dealer thinks I need the 468 Kit or just the bearing which is SKF7305 or 3540???? I really need to get it right the first time. And yes, I have search extensively. Please, any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks

Anything specific to the pump won't be Mercury OEM, as these pumps would be aftermarket. So whatever brand the pump is, you should be able to go back to the mfr and get parts for (if still available......).

If it's just a bearing you need, that part number should be enough to get a new one from a bearing specialty house. We have one of those nearby in Tacoma, Wa; Kaman Bearings. You can pretty much walk in with any kind of bearing and they can match up with in-stock or special order. Perhaps you have something similar in your area.

Otherwise there's a myriad of bearing suppliers that should have something. Have you tried Googling that bearing part #?

Here's a place that I've dealt with before, they seem to be OK:

www.VXB.com

I punched in "5305" and got these results:

http://www.vxb.com/page/bearings/PROD/Kit10063

This page has a full description of the bearing including all dimensions, you should be able to bounce this against your actual bearing to see if that's correct.

Here's a few more Google results:

http://www.thebigbearingstore.com/servlet/the-576/5305-dsh-2RS-Radial-Ball-Bearing/Detail

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0..._m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=13GRM8ZCEWF1YCHZTCXA

Note that if you find a bearing with rubber or metal shields and it's a good deal, pick it up anyway. All you have to do is pry out the shields if your bearing is unshielded (which I'll assume it is since it requires periodic greasing).

Mebbe there's a few Jet Guru's on this forum with a pipeline to this kinda stuff.

Thanks for the info. I did Google it and found other bearings, but without having my hands on to see it personally, I don't really want to order the wrong one. The info you supplied is pretty darn good. Maybe some Jet Guru like you said will chime in. From the link you've given me, I think I've got a good start now. Thanks again, and anyone else to chime in would be great as well. Oh, the Jet Pump is by ( Outboard Jet MFG ) I'm pretty sure there the ONLY Jet manufacturer, but I may be wrong. Thanks

Well, thanks for the help, but I found all the info I need right from Outboard Jet website. Who woulda thunk. They have great pics and details. Thanks
