I just retired and bought a fishing boat with a 50 H.P. Force (Mercury). data tag is blank. having a hard time getting parts with no serial number. anyone know how I can get that info without data plate? Are the lower unit oil seals interchangeable with Mercury 50 H.P. same year?

If you can post some pictures of the motor from all sides with the cover off, we can get to within a few years.

Look on the starter(might be a date)
Look under the electrics on the block should be a foundry stamp.
Pics? Until you have 5 posts you can't add pics.
So get busy and add some posts or send me a PM with an e-mail and you can send me pics.

The parts breakdowns and serial #s The model#s and changes are usually something small and mean very little.
You should be able to get parts from just the year.

And no the seal shouldn't interchange from Mercury to Force unless the Force is a 95 or later.
In 95 they went to Mercury parts.
