Mercury Gauge Wire/Ignition Wire Colors

I have to replace the ignition key on my tracker boat, and have following wires just hanging there, and I need help as to where to hook them up. One plug has a purple, black, and gray wire. The other plug has just a brown wire. The new ignition key does not have the same plug fittings, so I will have to cut and re-apply the wires. Please help!<br /><br />Thanks!

mike ,we need a little more info. on the eng.yr.,mod. plus ign.switch,is it OEM merc.on remote sw. box?? all this would help...

It's a 1995 60hp on a Tracker Boat. The key switch is on the panel itself where the gauges are.<br /><br />Thanks!
