Mercury gear lube?

sorry if this seems like a silly question, but I'm seeing so many gear lubes and additives on the market now-a-days. I'm finally getting my boat into the water after 11 years of storage. I'm just wondering what I'm suppose to put in my bottom end for gear lube? I have a 1975 40 horse Mercury (40 2). thank's for the replies in advance; Gregory

I've been using Castrol full synthetic in mine for a few years now. But that's ONLY because when I went to buy it the first time they were out of the regular and since then I've been afraid to switch. Many others on here have been using the Wal-Mart super-tec brands with no problems.
