Mercury Gen 2 remote control disassembly

I have this remote control with a 350 MAG. I need to adjust friction because it's impossible to go slowly in the marina channel without holding the lever. Lever goes to idle if not hold.

Considering my research, friction adjustment screw is under remote control plastic bezel. I need to remove lever to remove embedded bezel.

My doubt is: how to remove the remote lever center rounded button (with "M" symbol)? I tried to remove by levering with a small screwdriver. Afraid of breaking it.
