Mercury interrupt switch wiring.

I have an alpha 1 outdrive and I’m trying to replace the interrupt switch but not sure how the wires are suppose to wire up. I have a green/whit wire and and all black wire on the switch side but not sure where to connect to it n the coil and or block etc... Help!!!!! The photo of the red white wire is the old after market switch not working and the new one I have is the white/green and all black wires.

So as long as my green/white is connected to (negative) coil wire on distributor and the ground to any ground I should be good right?

NO!

ONLY gray wires go to the coil negative.. If you ground the coil negative (with the shift switch), you risk damaging the output stage of the module and you'll put 400v across a switch designed for about 120v. Do it as I have shown you in the drawing above....
