MY dad has had this motor for about 20 years. It has been sitting for a while. it started to over heat out on the lake one day. that was 15 years ago. I wantit but i want it to go to someone who cares about these motors not to someone who is gonna part it out for a quick buck. i want to stay away fom EBAY so just wondering if there is a site for motors this old..it is in excellent condition for its age
the serial is 254216 so its a 1948-1949 motor. any help is awesome. Thanks Matt

Re: Mercury KE4 questions

You might ask at Johns Old Mercury Web Site or at www.amoci.org.
Don't ask value you'll have to watch ebay for a similar motor.
Keep in mind condition is everything and in reality your motors condition is unknown.

Re: Mercury KE4 questions

Just to clarifiy Spike's note, it's www.AOMCI.org. The KE4s are decent little motors, pretty spunky for their size. I note that yours is missing the prop, unless it was removed to access the waterpump after the overheat.

Anyway, bring it to Pugsley's Marine this weekend on 104 in Ontario. They're having a swap meet on Saturday, starting at 9:00am. Weather permitting, I hope to be there...
