I am working mercury kg7 scintilla magneto, do I set the points with the throttle/mag. lever in any particular position? Should the piston be at tdc for the breaker I am setting? White lithium grease ok on the cam?

Just set the points where they are on the highest point on the cam. I use a tiny amount of high temp grease just to coat the cam surface. Lithium is too thin and could through onto the point contacts in time.
