mercury lower unit year??

I have a lower unit I just picked up I have never seen one like it the water pick up comes in at the trim tab can anyone tell me what this might have come off of and what year. has no vents on the side?

Merc 9.9 perhaps.. Is it black?<br /><br />I think even new 9.9's and 15's still use that style pickup..

THIS IS WAY TO BIG TO BE A 9.9 OR 15 THIS ATLEAST A 80HP OR ABOVE AND YES IT IS BLACK NO PRELOAD PIN AT TOP

you have a 1960 or 61 LU for a 4 or 6 cyl motor.
